Before opting to pursue fighting, Adesanya, who studied computer graphic design, dropped out of college and worked as a billing coordinator for a gas line firm. Adesanya also holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Andre Galvao, his former instructor.

Adesanya, often known as the Last Stylebender, faced Rob Wilkinson at UFC 221 after making his debut in the UFC octagon in 2018. With a second round knockout victory, he made an immediate impression, and the 33 year old never looked back.

Adesanya made his middleweight championship defense debut in 2019 and never gave up on winning the belt. In the second round, he eliminated robert whittaker to claim the title of uncontested champion. At UFC 259, The last stylebender battled Jan blachowicz for the Light-Heavyweight championship and lost by Unanimous Decision. This was his first ever MMA defeat.

He successfully defended his title against Marvin vettori in a thrilling five round fight in 2021. He successfully defended his title twice in the previous year, but Alex Pereira overcame Adesanya via strikes in the fifth round.

At UFC 287, Adesanya, who unexpectedly challenged Pereira for a rematch, successfully defended the middleweight title and became the first middleweight champion to win the title twice.

Adesanya a native of auckland, New Zealand, is a 26 fight veteran who has prevailed in 24 of them.
